Canny pricing

Canny pricing too high? A $9/mo alternative for indie SaaS

Canny Pro starts at $79/mo billed yearly for 100 tracked users, and the bill climbs as more people vote. ShipLog is $9/mo per project, flat, however many people use your board.

What an indie founder actually needs

ShipLog covers the loop

  • A public board where users post and vote
  • Statuses from open to completed, filterable on the board
  • A public changelog with an RSS feed
  • An embeddable widget for your app
  • A REST API and an MCP server for AI agents, on every plan

Canny is worth it if you need

  • Autopilot pulling feedback out of support and sales conversations
  • Jira, Linear, ClickUp, Asana or GitHub integrations (Pro)
  • Changelog emails to subscribers (paid plans)
  • A custom domain (Pro)

ShipLog does none of these.

Side by side on every feature: ShipLog vs Canny

Moving from Canny

There's no one-click importer. A script does it:

  1. Create a ShipLog project and an API key.
  2. Read your posts and their statuses from Canny's API.
  3. Create each post with the create_feedback tool on ShipLog's MCP server, then set its status with update_feedback_status. An AI agent in Claude Code or Cursor can run the whole loop.
  4. Swap Canny's widget for ShipLog's script tag.

Vote counts don't carry over. More than 10 posts needs Captain, the free plan's limit. Stuck? Email hello@shiplog.ca.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Canny cost?
Canny has three plans. Free covers 25 tracked users. Pro is $79/mo billed yearly ($99 month to month) for 100 tracked users and steps up as more people post, vote or comment: $129/mo at 200, $279/mo at 500, $529/mo at 1,000. Business is quote-only. Figures from Canny's billing docs, checked October 29, 2026.
What is a tracked user in Canny?
Anyone with a post, vote or comment attributed to them, including actions an admin or Canny's Autopilot takes on their behalf. Canny raises your plan to the next increment when you pass a limit; you can set a monthly spending cap.
Is there a cheap Canny alternative for indie SaaS?
ShipLog is $9/mo or $90/yr per project, flat, with no tracked-user pricing. It covers the feedback board with voting, status tracking, a public changelog, an embeddable widget, a REST API and an MCP server for AI agents. It is free for one project with 10 feedback items and 10 changelog entries.
What does Canny do that ShipLog doesn't?
A lot. Canny's Autopilot pulls feedback out of support and sales conversations, Pro connects to Jira, Linear, ClickUp, Asana and GitHub, it emails changelog subscribers on paid plans, and it supports custom domains. ShipLog has none of those: no email, no PM integrations, no custom domain. If you need them, Canny is worth its price.
Can I move my Canny board to ShipLog?
Yes, by script; there's no one-click importer. Read your posts from Canny's API, then create them with the create_feedback tool on ShipLog's MCP server and set each status with update_feedback_status. Vote counts don't carry over. More than 10 posts needs Captain, since that's the free plan's limit.
